Ytre Møkkalaset Lighthouse

Before the lighthouse was established in 1888, many ships were wrecked when they came too close to Flosterøya and the archipelago outside Tvedestrand. In a Norwegian context, Ytre Møkkalaset Lighthouse is a rare example of a low cast-iron tower with minimal living conditions. In 1986, the light was extinguished and the lighthouse station was decommissioned—but the decision to relight the lantern has been made, and Ytre Møkkalaset Lighthouse will continue to guide seafarers through the islets and skerries in the future.
